The Shoe Drops – Sarah Signs With Fox

OK, it took a lot longer than any of us guessed, but Sarah Palin is joining Fox .
When she quit her job as Governor of Alaska, I wrote that I thought she bailed on her responsibilities because she was about to sign a sweet deal with her media cheerleading squad. I asked you to weigh in. If you agreed that a deal with Fox was the reason for the hasty abdication, I asked you to guess the date of the Fox deal. If you thought there was another reason, I asked you to post your best guess. Prize was promised for the earliest time-stamped “right” guess.
Ever since, I’ve been wondering if this contest would have a winner. It didn’t seem that anybody nailed the real reason Sarah Palin broke her promises to the people of Alaska. It appears she split because it just seemed like it would be a lot more fun to be a private citizen on a moneymaking book tour, unaccountable to anyone, than to be the embattled governor answering to Alaska voters and national reporters.
So what if Sarah Palin quit a difficult job so that she could enjoy a more glamorous, less intellectually-challenging time in her life? Sounds like the perfect setup for her new gig! (Hey, apart from the breaking-your-promises-and-being-a-quitter part, I completely understand. I used to work in TV. It’s a heckuva lot easier than being the chief executive of a state.)
