Sleeping Beauty

Day 39

When I awoke this morning, my husband was still sleeping. I watched the rising and falling of his body with each breath.

It seemed miraculous, this unconscious intake and outflow.

I was moved by the beauty and fragility of the breath of life entering the body of my beloved.  I was reminded of watching sleeping children, and animals, and how magical and peaceful their breathing appears.

Stay connected to the breath, say all the yoga teachers.

Breathe, I often tell coaching clients.

Nothing simpler, nothing more basic, nothing more essential.

And really, nothing is more beautiful than watching someone you love just breathe.

I love knowing *and* imagining where those miraculous molecules travel, gliding along with the red riders …

To sleep, perchance to dream…or just breathe.

my original thot when I read this was … someone is falling in love, all over again, with her husband, with herself and with life itself on this sabbatical – Ruth Ann, you are one seriously awesome kick ass woman no matter what prompted it.
